Beak

About the Brewery

Beak Brewery is an independent craft brewery established in 2020 in Lewes, East Sussex, by food and drink writer Daniel Tapper. Before settling in Lewes, Beak existed as a nomadic project, with Tapper brewing his recipes at some of the UK's most respected breweries, including North Brew Co, Partizan, Beavertown, Burning Sky and Northern Monk, while building the philosophy that would come to define the brand.

In 2020, that journey found a permanent home beneath the chalk cliffs on the edge of Lewes, where Beak now runs a brewery, a taproom and a street-food canteen. Their beers are best known for intensely flavoured, hazy IPAs and pale ales built around experimental and aromatic hop varieties, alongside a broader range that stretches from clean pilsners to rich imperial stouts, plus a mixed-fermentation programme drawing on locally grown ancient grains.

The brewery's food-first outlook and connection to its South Downs surroundings have made it one of the most talked-about names in contemporary British craft beer.

Why We Stock Beak

Beak's story — a founder who spent years honing his craft on other people's kit before building something of his own — mirrors the path plenty of our luthiers have taken, and it's exactly the kind of independent, founder-driven brewing we want on our shelves. Their bold, hop-forward beers sit well alongside the rest of our range for drinkers who want something with real character.
