Alex Bishop Guitars
Alex Bishop Guitars — Alex Bishop
About the Maker
Alex Bishop traded a prospective career in aerospace engineering for an applied devotion to the craft of guitar-making. In 2007 he relocated to London and studied “Musical Instruments” at London Metropolitan University, graduating in 2010 with First-Class Honours and academic distinction.
Mentored by respected creators such as Nicholas Blishen, Norman Myall, Martin Bowers and Godefroy Maruejouls, he developed a refined approach to lutherie.
After winning the Cockpit Arts Award in 2010, Alex established his early workshop at Cockpit Arts, Deptford. Since 2019 he has operated from Bristol, where he crafts gypsy-jazz and folk guitars, offers instrument repair, and runs teaching courses in guitar-making.
His instruments reflect a balance: the structural precision born of his technical background, and a deeply personal commitment to tonal character and handcrafted aesthetics. Each instrument is conceived and built to deliver voice, responsiveness, and individuality.
